The results are in! We asked a number of HR and Recruitment professionals about the impact of the Brexit vote on recruitment. These survey answers provide insight into how the vote to Brexit has impacted recruitment across different organisations. Company size of the respondents varied greatly from 1-100 employees up to 10,000+ employees.
FUTURE OF RECRUITMENT
Overall, respondents were not happy with the impact that the referendum has had on recruitment. 73% of those polled believed that leaving the EU would have a negative impact on the future of recruitment in the UK. In addition, a massive 0% believed that it would have positive impact!
Recruitment levels seem to be dropping, putting recruitment managers and HR professionals at risk. Over 58% of respondents said that recruitment levels have decreased or decreased slightly since the Brexit vote.
EU JOB APPLICATIONS
In addition to impacting recruitment levels, the Brexit vote has also lowered the number of EU job applications. More than 33% of respondents said that EU job applications have decreased or slightly decreased since the referendum.
Due to these early changes following the vote, 67% of those surveyed believe that the UK will be facing an increased skills gap and talent shortage moving forward.
